Octagon Lifts is a second generation, family-owned elevator company. They specialise in the supply, installation, maintenance and modernisation of high-quality European vertical transportation products for both the commercial and residential markets.
Octagon Lifts first engaged Checkside in 2010 to recruit a senior sales engineer to help meet demand, drive growth and reduce dependency on the owner. On the back of that successful project, we have been involved in enhancing the HR processes for the business and in 2014 advised on the drafting and negotiation of their new Enterprise Agreement.
The business has continued to grow and in 2015 we again applied our A-Grade Recruitment process to bring on the business’ first Executive General Manager (EGM). This position was created not only to help drive the next phase of growth, but also to free up the business owner, Gary Grimes, to focus on playing to his strengths and enjoying more time with his family.
Our A-Grade Recruitment approach included the ‘from scratch’ development of an information memorandum and performance profile for the position, management of the comprehensive search and selection process, as well as design of the incentive scheme and onboarding plan.
The EGM commenced within the forecast timeframe and the business has successfully developed a new strategic plan. With a number of key initiatives already complete, we are now helping Octagon recruit new people to fuel further growth.
