19 Jun 3.3% Increase to minimum Wages – 2017 Annual Wage Review
A recent announcement made by the Fair Work Commission has stated that the National Minimum Wage will increase by 3.3% raising the minimum wage to $694.90 per week or $18.29 per hour. This adjustment will take effect on 1 July 2017.
Who does this apply to?
This 3.3% increase applies to all employees who are currently paid according to:
- the National Minimum Wage
- a Modern Award
The decision to increase minimum wages could also affect businesses with Enterprise Agreements, depending on their construction.
What to do
Checkside recommends that business owners review their employee’s wages prior to 1 July 2017 and make the appropriate adjustments. The Fair Work Ombudsman has pay tools for individual Awards which will be available once the Awards have been updated.
